Chick Lit Valentine's Blog Hop!

5 Ways My RomCom Heroine Lisa Flyte
is like the Disney Princess Belle
From Beauty and the Beast

(Yes, I actually have an entire set of matryoshkas, or Russian nesting dolls, from Disney's Beauty and the Beast.)

5. Though both Belle and Lisa each meets and falls for the hero in the story, the goal of neither woman is to find a man. Each meets her guy on the course of another adventure. Belle must find her father, and Lisa must find her backbone. Neither is waiting for her prince to come...

4. Both Belle and Lisa are needed by their heroes for very specific reasons. The Beast never expects Belle to come wandering into the castle, but when she does, he realizes that she might be just the person to break the curse. Jack is knocked for a loop when Lisa chases him up a mountain, but once she barges into his life, he realizes that she's perfect as the undercover test-dummy for his new line of idiot-proof adventure gear.

3. Each woman, Belle and Lisa, marches to her own bongo beat and is, therefore, a bit out of step with
everyone else. All the townspeople think Belle, though pretty, is a bit strange with her goofy father and her nose always in a book.  And Lisa? Well, many reader reviewsand very good ones, to bootmention that Lisa takes quirky to whole new level. The words "totally insane" may have come up a time or two. But hey, Lisa and her book have 68 reviews on Amazon with an average of 4.5, so I guess more people than just Billy Joel can "...enjoy some madness for a while."

2. Both Belle and Lisa befriend a motley gang of zany die-hard companions who stand tough when the going gets rough.
Belle is taken care of by all the animated furniture, cutlery, and bric-a-brac in the enchanted castle. Lisa befriends her wacky neighbors, a bunch of stray animals, and the gang at the rec center where she works.

1. In the end, it is the heroine who saves the hero. Belle finally breaks the curse of The Beast. Lisa...well, I'm not going to give that one away. Mmmrrh...
